Institutional Mission to Uzbekistan

From 22 – 26 June 2026, the Apparel Sourcing Club Partner, Sven Eriskat, travelled to Tashkent to work with the national textile and clothing association ‘Uztextilprom’ and to speak with relevant stakeholders about how to induce the cooperation between German and Uzbek companies. Stakeholders have indicated that they will support the participation of Uzbek companies in the APPAREL SOURCING CLUB-DAY 2027.

The mission is part of the ‚GUZ Patners‘ project, promoting and strengthening German-Uzbek textile business partnership and cooperation throughout the textile production chain, from fibre to fashion. The textile associations GESAMTMASCHE and UZTEKSTILPROM jointly implement the project and inform the public on its progress. GUZ Partners has substantially contributed to increase the cooperation between Uzbek and German companies. The project is financed by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development and supported by sequa gGmbH.

Uzbekistan is a true textile giant with vast cotton resources. The sector aims at offering the final product on the international markets. Apparel exports to Germany have steadily increased during the past five years, but at a moderate volume level. In 2025, a total of EUR 33 million worth of apparel exports reached Germany. On the textile side, exports are stagnating at a volume of approximately EUR 5,5 million. Given the substantial potential of Uzbekistan as a prime textile and apparel sourcing destination, project activities are important to induce the cooperation between the companies.
